Happy Sunday & finding Brene Brown

Today I will live with my wholeheart...
Images in this post are courtesy of Brene Brown Blog/Website
Happy Sunday everyone ~ I ask that if you have a moment, hop over to Brene's Blog and Website ~ You can find her here: Ordinary Courage
You might find a new way to look at yourself, and embrace what you do each and every new day of your life. I've learned so much just by reading and absorbing. That's what we must do, is it not? To absorb all of the positive wisdom around us, and know that we are simply, "good enough".....xo
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.

Framed Digi Kitty Challenge & Petit Rosettes

"Framed" ~ The Digi Kitty Challenge! Mine is called "flew hastily away" and I used the Daguerreotypes No. 2 Collage, the gorgeous teal frame from Retro Cafe Art. I also used some petit roses, a collage image done in photoshop, a Victorian wax seal, oil paint, glitter, found objects, a a bit o' lace. I thought the bottom of the tag needed something extra, so I added a November bottle cap to coordinate with the reds, and also a mini image cut out as an altered baby ~ flew hastily away ~ like the time around here! I used some old vintage music sheets as well ~ hope you like it!

My favorite new find ~ So many things you can do with them!
Yes, I'm in petit rosette heaven over here :)
-------------------------
Thought I'd start a new line of Petit Roses Cards & Tags
Something a little different I think ~ Can you tell I am now hooked on those little packages of paper doilies you find at Michaels? $1.99 per 25 and so many cool things you can do with them. They are made by the Wilton Cake Co. and are perfect for Altered Art!
-----------------------------
Well, that's my submission for the Digi Kitty Challenge and also my favorite new find of the week from Retro Cafe Art ~ This weekend I'll be adding about 20 new designs for my Tags and Cards at PunkRose, then on Sunday the kids and I are off to watch "A Christmas Carol" with Jim Carey. We {heart} him, and I love anything a Christmas Carol....Madison and I watched Barbie Christmas Carol the other day ~ Hey, I'll watch anything! Barbie or Sponge bob...Gone with the Wind, Zohan....does not matter :) I am movie and music buff!!
Ladies, take care this weekend, have fun with your family, eat lots of "comfort" food {it's time for soups!!} and be safe! xo
Weather is a great metaphor for life - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.

Warning: The contents in this post may be hazardous to your health...

Marie Versailles Glass Bottle Set

Delicious little Package Tags, French Style

Ooooh la la, Marie!
My beautiful new Vintage Mason Baby Jar
Thank you Lori!
German style chubby wood block ~ Altered
No, the black topper does not go with the Wood Block ~ It's a miniature Wax Seal Fleur Di Lis! Only $1 at our local Outpost ~ I grabbed every design they had in the hopes that when I use one, I'll be transported to the Victorian Times and seal my envelopes in total secrecy. Only my recipient will know it's contents! Isn't that fun? Who else uses Wax Seals?
As I said - Warning: Contents may be hazardous to your health! I know it's a lot of photos, and I miss taking them. I've put it to the wayside with the excuse of "My camera is not good enough" ~ I made it work in Picnik.com! Such fun things to do with your photos there. Hope everyone has a lovely day ~ It's freezing here! I walked my kids to the bus stop in Sandals! You can take the girl out of Texas..... xoxo Sherri
~ People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within ~

~ Just a thought for the evening ~

{free digital image for you to use for your pu}
---------------
I'll be posting some goodies soon, but am really just sitting here staring at the computer screen. I've got orders to fill, ladies who are waiting {and have been waiting} on merchandise, the kids making way too much noise, the house a disaster area, the kitchen floor has not been mopped in 2 weeks, and the laundry is piled up...we need to get things ready outside for Winter, my Van needs an oil change, they want me to volunteer at the school for something or the other....And I am just kind of sitting here. I want to rewind. Or, maybe that's unwind. When I get so busy, the time goes past in the blink of an eye. It's like sand in the Sahara desert ~ you see it moving fast, a million sand particles constantly moving through the fingers of time. Gone in an instant. You can try, but you won't ever find that same grain of sand again.

The above quote by Oprah Winfrey is something I remind myself of when people can be hurtful ~ "Turn your Wounds into Wisdom" ~ Isn't that a beautiful thought?
Yes, people hurt us. They let us down. They don't change. But if I can turn my wounds into wisdom, then I've made it a little better ~ I've given myself something that no one else can give me.
--------------------------------------------
I've been working on some things in between the glitter drying on my orders ~ I will show you this week ~ Some cutesy glass bottles and Christmas enclosure package tags! TOO CUTE!! I hope everyone is well and good this week ~ That you are healthy and happy and content ~ xoxo

It's a Dollie Day for a Christmas Ornament Tutorial!

Supplies Needed:
Crown Stamp, Small ~ Word stamp of your choice for Scroll
White Cardstock for Stamping ~ Pop Dots for 3-D effect
Bits of lace or sparkle ribbon, cut in small pieces for head/neck
Plastic Crystals, Silver Glitter, White Cake Doilies from Wilton
Ink {I prefer Tim Holtz Vintage Photo} & Glue, Glue Gun Optional
--------------------------
Print your German Dollie Heads Collage Sheet
Cut your choice of heads ~ Take your white doilies, separate from package and crumple. Run your Ink over the edges, unfold. Along the inside circle edge of your doily, add a small layer of glue; add glitter, let dry. Cut your pieces of ribbon or lace to 1/4th of an inch, take your stamps and stamp your crown image and word image. Age and cut those out. After glitter is dry, take a pop-dot and add a cut German Dollie head to the center of your doily. Apply your ribbon or lace with glue or glue gun. Apply your Crystal to the top of Dollie's head. Add your Crown stamped image under the edge of your ribbon {on the head}. Next, cut your word stamped image into a scroll, crumple and age. Add a thin line of glue around the edges, add glitter, let dry. Once dry add to the bottom of your German Dollie Doily. {love saying that!} ~ Add your choice of topper, which could be seam binding, or my preference, hemp cording for hanging on your tree, and, voila! You have a beautiful, vintage style German Dollie Ornament or a perfect little package gift tag for Christmas!
--------------------------------
-----------------------------
This is my finished product ~ Isn't she adorable?
---------------------------
I hope you enjoyed this little mini "tutorial" for Retro Cafe Art's German Dollies, and the beautiful Christmas Tree Ornament or Package Tag you can make with them. There are so many different things you could do ~ If you purchase it and create something, let me know here in my comments section with a link to your Blog so everyone can see! xoxo

Did you survive Halloween with the Kids?

Oh. Boy. Did you survive Halloween this year? I feel like I barely made it out alive. Since there is really nothing to do in La Pine, Oregon, except walk around the businesses in town with your Kids to collect candy for Halloween {whereas in my home state of Texas where we actually do the "normal" way of Trick or Treating, house to house} ~ I tell you, what I thought would be a walk in the park, turned into a 2 hour race to 64 participating businesses. Who knew? This is La Pine for Pete's sake. The kids loved it, and maybe I walked off a few pounds to boot.

Working on my Website {again}
Hopefully it's easy to navigate, and I am anxious to get everything done and listed before January 2010! My GOSH. Say that out loud folks, 2010. 2010. WHAT? Hello? Where does the time go, I ask you? I am 35. Nuff' said. No spring chicken anymore. --------------
Dear friends and bloggers, I hope that your November is a spectacular one. That loads of blessings come your way each and every day. That you take the time to pamper yourselves, because you matter - you are valuable - you are wonderful. I hope that my friends in business start seeing new customers and new sales each week. Here's wishing all of you a beautiful "end of Fall" and a glorious start to the Winter Holiday ~ Take care xoxo

My "attempt" at making some sort of altered art ~ Me, thinking I am some kind of Mixed Media Artist! I mean, really. I had this big vision - this picture in my head of what I wanted to do {and of course, in my head it was perfect} bought the supplies and tried to create something characteristic of a beautiful Mixed Media piece...Well, seeing the finished product does not look anything like my vision! Darn it all. Maybe I should just stick with tags/cards. It's hard for me to screw that up! I tried, I listed the "something similar to altered art" wood blocks on my website, and lowered the price to just about my time to make them and the supplies used. I hope you don't hurt your eyes too much looking at them! heehe :) It's all in good fun, eh? Ya'll take care and have a Happy Halloween ~ I'm taking mine to the Halloween Carnival at the high school. Be Safe out there and have a fabulous weekend dolls ~ xo Sher {the not so mixed media artist}
